Adding to their suffering is Uncle Ahmad's illness; he suffers from muscle atrophy and thinning of the skin, causing any contact to result in injury. His wife also struggles with chronic illnesses, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and impaired vision that hinders her from performing even the simplest tasks. Uncle Ahmad has a son who suffers from cerebral ischemia, rendering him unable to work or support the family.
