Hala is a young girl living with her displaced family in a rented one-room home. The family's only provider is Hala’s father, who works as a daily worker with an income that barely covers the family’s expenses and the rent. Despite this, they try to live as best as they can but Hala’s illness has taken a toll on the entire family. Hala suffers from benign bone cysts in her hip, thigh, and tibia. These cysts require urgent surgical removal because they are causing osteoporosis, which puts her at high risk of fractures. Because of this, Hala is not allowed to leave the house or play, for fear that her fragile bones might break.
