On March 6, 2013, our little girl Raghad was born in Gaza, a city that has never known peace or rest. After years of relentless blockade and repeated escalations, the oppressors waged an all-out war on the city, bringing some of the harshest days of siege and conflict Gaza has ever endured. Raghad has faced these terrifying days without the comforting presence of a father to calm her fears or hold her close during the bombings. Her father passed away in 2017, leaving her in the care of her mother, who tries to ease her daughter's fear by teaching her the Quran during the days of war. Raghad has a beautiful voice, which she uses to recite the Quran and sing nasheeds. She dreams of becoming a teacher, but her difficult circumstances stand in the way of her aspirations.
