Salam did not receive much of what her name means , peace. She was born fatherless and has faced displacement and hardship since her very first days. Our little Salam, born on January 1, 2015, never met her father. He was martyred months before her birth, killed by the barrel bombs dropped by the Assad regime on his city. Today, Salam lives with her mother in a small tent that lacks even the most basic necessities of life. With no provider and no source of income, survival is a daily struggle. Yet, despite all this, Salam continues her education, holding on to the dream of one day becoming a teacher, so that she can tell future generations her story and the story of her father, who gave his life so his homeland could be free.
