In the Al-Waer neighborhood of Homs, Duaa is growing up carrying hardships far beyond her years. Her father died in detention before she ever had the chance to know him. After six and a half years of imprisonment, her mother returned home to find that her young daughter no longer recognized her, asking fearfully, “Who is she?” Today, the family survives on a limited income that barely covers rent and basic living expenses. Despite these challenges, Duaa remains determined to continue her education and hold on to her dreams. She is currently a ninth-grade student and needs support to enroll in tutoring classes that can help her succeed in school.
