2020 Eid Sacrifice Campaign Impact
With the sunrise of the first day of Eid al-Adha, our volunteers went into action. They left their families to spend the days of Eid with displaced and vulnerable families. From one camp to another, they distributed sacrifice rations on the neediest families. The total number of beneficiary families exceeded 20 thousand families.
This is the fifth year that we launch a Eid Sacrifice campaign. Thankfully, this year, 1345 sheep and 6 cows were slaughtered. The rations were distributed in the following towns in Syria: Azaz, Al-Bab, Afrin, Tal Abyad, Idlib and their countrysides, Daret Azza and the countryside of Latakia. A portion of them were distributed in Arsal, Bekaa, and Tripoli towns in Lebanon, in addition to Irbid town in Jordan.
During implementation of the campaign, we made sure to adhere to the rules slaughtering according to Shariah, such saying 'Bismillaah' over the sacrifice and slaughtering the animals separately. We also followed the rules regarding the age and weight of the sacrificed animals. The cost of sacrificing sheep was $220, while the cost of sacrificing sheep was $1500.
We are tremendously thankful for everyone who contributed in turning this year's Eid al-Adha into a unique feast for these families. It is very likely the only time in the year that many of them get to taste meat and enjoy a nourishing meal.
