2020 First Quarter Highlights Report
The first quarter of 2020 has been marked by massive displacement waves caused by the fierce military campaign in northern Syria. The following is a brief summary of our work over this period.
Campaigns: The department's main activities were focused on the following two campaigns:
- Give Warmth campaign in Syria and Lebanon for the provision of winterization supplies (heating fuel, insulators, blankets, pyrene)
- Joint Emergency Response campaign in cooperation with several organizations 'Ahl Al-Ezz campaign'
Areas of implementation: Afrin, Idlib, Idlib countrysie, Azaz, Mare', Al-Bab, Darat Azza, and Latakia countryside
Assistance provided: Shelter for newly displaced families, food items, heating supplies, basic needs, in addition to building toilet facilities in one of Azaz camps. We have also took part in several joint humanitarian relief campaigns in cooperation with different organizations.
- Total amount of donations disbursed over this period = $941,468
Medical Cases: 309 new cases spread across Syria, Lebanon and Turkey, among them were children, men, women and elderly people, including patients with heart or kidney issues, patients who suffer from visual or hearing problems, cancer patients, and patients who need examinations and medicines that they cannot afford.
We also worked on several projects, such as the medical point and the ambulance to transport patients in Deir Ballut camp, and opened a new medical point in Barisha camp. The two medical points serve dozens of camp inhabitants every day with consultations and medications.
- Total amount of donations over this period = $249,399
Humanitarian Cases: 246 new cases spread across Syria, Lebanon and Turkey, and the assistance provided varied between housing rehabilitation, payment of house rent, or provision of food baskets, tents and insulators, and other needs depending on the family situation.
In addition, five new families were provided with permanent sponsorship, thereby making the total number of family sponsorship recipients 122 families, who were in deplorable conditions.
- Total amount of donations disbursed over this period = $181,566
Orphan Sponsorship: The continuation of assaults always creates more fatherless children. Therefore, 276 orphans were added to our sponsorship program, thereby making the total number of orphan sponsorship recipients 1267 orphans, spread across Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan. All these children who have no provider now have sponsors who provide them with monthly assistance.
- Total amount of donations over this period = $340,012
Education: 44 students were provided with full scholarships to continue their higher education in different majors, thereby making the total number of scholarship recipients 132 students, spread across different universities and majors in Syria, Turkey, and Lebanon. As for educational projects, the current number of beneficiaries are as follows:
- 263 students in Molham School - Qah IDP camps
- 311 students in Molham School - Arsal refugee camps
- 237 students in Languages Home center - Idlib
- Total amount of donations spent on educational projects = $50,569
Molham Events: 71 events were implemented in the IDP camps of Syria and refugee camps of Lebanon. The occasions behind the events included birthdays, Aqiqah, wedding and graduation celebrations, in addition to fun parties with no occasion.
- Total number of beneficiaries from the events = 4552 children and families
- Total donation amount received over this period = $29,111
These numbers are the result of the amazing efforts put in by over 250 volunteers from around the world, and of course the tremendous support of donors.
