Barisha medical point .. Finally, the treatment is not that difficult anymore!
Barisha camp - for those who don't know- was the destination of displaced people from Idlib countryside in 2019. It is located in Barisha - Harem province, close to the Turkish borders. As a priority, the camp was for displaced families with disabled members. There are 500 families where 30% of them are elderly people. Most of them are diabetic and/or with cardiac disorders while others suffer from pulmonary disorders. Therefore, the need for medical care is something basic for the sick inhabitants who need it every day. The camp had no medical centre, or hospital or even a medical point, and it continued like that until we established Barisha medical point!
Barisha medical point offers the consultations and treatments for free. Also, the doctor organizes visits in tents for disabled patients, those who can't move or walk. The medical point has one emergency room and it receives around 100 patients daily. It is managed by a male and a female nurse.
The male nurse told about the importance of this medical point saying; ''This medical point serves Barisha camp and the nearby camps as well. In the whole area, there are no medical care facilities at all. The treatment is easier and possible with the establishment of this medical point while the inhabitants started to attend it instead of going for far distances looking for a doctor. Moreover, widows and disabled people now are receiving the medical care they need with no struggles.''
We wish this project lasts with this positive effect on families lives. We also wish that life in camps - in spite of its bitterness- will be acceptable. We try to give them the tolerance for such life through providing basic needs and listening to their complaints to return to them with the possible solutions.
