Statistics of the Orphan Sponsorships Department - First Half of 2023
“The Prophet (PBUH) said, “I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this,” putting his index and middle fingers together.” (Bukhari)
This year's start wasn't ordinary; it began with an earthquake that caused buildings which injured thousands of people. And the worst of it all was how many children were left orphaned as a result of the earthquake.
The number of orphans increased within a few days, and hundreds of kids were added to the list of "Earthquake Orphans."
Volunteers worked very hard to provide orphaned children with shelter and protection in the hours following the earthquake.
The Orphan Department in Molham Volunteering Team launched campaigns in the first half of 2023 with a $449,949 budget and sponsorships with a $1,327,543 budget.
More than 150 children who lost their parents under the rubble will be added by the end of this month, bringing the total number of sponsored children to 4,142. These orphans are located in NW Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan.
In addition to sponsorships, Orphan Section hosted a variety of events to cheer up orphans, including Ramadan Quran competitions, logic games, and trips. In some cities of Turkey and in NW Syria, several group Iftar meals were held to gather orphans.
The journey has never been easy and never will be, but seeing the orphaned children receive the care they deserve and knowing that this is the Holy Prophet's instruction is what keeps us going.
