Statistics of the Shelter Department - First Half of 2023
In a world where many people struggle to find a safe place to live, we have worked hard to improve the situation of the families living in camps. The Shelter Department in Molham Volunteering Team set out to improve their life by designing residential projects that would give them a solid foundation and a secure environment so they would never have to relocate again.
The Shelter Department in Molham Volunteering Team started implementing its projects in 2021, working on 5 projects in total within that year as part of "Until the Last Tent" campaign. Several families were relocated from their tents in camps to safe apartments to settle in.
However, an earthquake suddenly struck this year, destroying many houses and lives, but we refused to give up. Instead, we took it as a reason to move forward with our work and emphasize how important it is.
Knowing that the buildings constructed by the Shelter department remained safe and it was not affected by the earthquake. And that was confirmed as per the examination of the authorities.
In response to the earthquake, we launched the "We Can" campaign, raising a total of $12 million for the cause while reaffirming our dedication to aiding those who are in need and rebuilding houses for the families who lost everything they had.
We Can campaign consists of three housing projects as follows:
1. Hilal Harem project: located in Idlib countryside's Harem district.
with an area of 39,000m²
It will consist of 25 buildings with 352 units, including three- and four-story buildings.
10,220 m² of gardens and green landscapes
2. Molham Project in Armanaz: located in the rural Armanaz region of Idlib.
with an area of 31,640m²
It will consist of 28 buildings with 368 units, including three- and four-story buildings.
6,268 m² of gardens and green landscapes
3. Molham Project in Azaz: located in Azaz in Idlib countrysides
With an area of 15,000 m²
It will consist more than 350 units.
A study is also being conducted to carry out special building work for those affected by the earthquake.
Volunteers in shelter department made significant progress during "Until the Last Tent" Campaign, which worked in parallel with the We Can campaign.
Within the first stage of the Al-Kout project, 240 units were built, and 240 families were then relocated to new apartments. The second phase of the Al-Kout project is implementing 120 houses, while the third phase will include the construction of 156 units.
The first phase of the Tamrat Al-Khair project has seen the completion of 180 houses.
Ghata’a Alrahma project is implementing 48 houses, and the Seeds for Humanity project is implementing 24 houses.
Also, in Sawasiya project 144 families were also relocated to warm and safe houses.
And because the Shelter Department's achievement never end, the team finished 378 houses in Molham Village. The houses now became a safe home for families that suffered in camps.
