Zakat Al-Mal
Molham Volunteering Team launches annual campaigns of Zakat AL-Mal to be distributed for families in need in NW Syria and in neighboring countries.
The received Zakat is distributed for the 8 recipients who deserve Zakat according to Al-Qura'an :
''Alms-tax is only for the poor and the needy, for those employed to administer it, for those whose hearts are attracted ˹to the faith˺, for ˹freeing˺ slaves, for those in debt, for Allah’s cause, and for ˹needy˺ travellers. ˹This is˺ an obligation from Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.''
We distribute the majority of received Zakat as financial amounts for IDPs in NW Syria. Moreover, as Molham Team we consider giving Zakat Al-Mal to :
- Orphans: Zakat is distributed for orphans as a financial amount delivered once or as monthly payments ( every month or every 3 months) for a predetermined period by the team so they can cover their basic needs in addition to the school expenses.
- Students: as many university students in NW Syria are unable to pay for the tuition fees, the residence, or even their daily expenses, the Molham team distributes a part of the Zakat to the neediest students especially those who have war injuries. Also, the team offers them a monthly sponsorship for living so they can focus on their studies to graduate as supporters for their families.
- Medical Cases: Molham Team holds the costs of surgeries for patients and injured who are not able to afford it. This is based on the evaluation report of the patient and the urgency of the surgery. In addition, the team affords the medications and chemotherapy for patients through monthly payments( medical sponsorships) for patients and injured who are not able to work.
- Humanitarian Cases: Molham Team distributes received Zakat as financial amounts ( cash money) for needy families who are selected according to conditions and criteria predetermined by the department of evaluation and monitoring. It is not obligatory for the selected humanitarian cases to be for orphans or injured. The targeted families are those who are abandoned by other organizations in NW Syria since their number is very high with the lack of job vacancies.
- Shelter: this department is responsible for building houses to replace the tents for IDPs so they own a decent shelter. This part is different from the housing units projects that are implemented and managed by the team as endowments (Waqf).
- Urgent Response: Molham Team employs Zakat Al-Mal to respond urgently to displacement waves to provide food parcels, bread, and ready meals for displaced people in addition to basic essentials like sheets, mattresses, solar panels, batteries, and tents.
Note: Molham Volunteering Team doesn't pay the received Zakat for building Awqaf ( i.e. Mosques or any properties). The team is committed to distributing the amounts received as Zakat only within the 8 kinds of recipients.
