After losing her husband and three children in the war, Mariam, who is almost 80 years of age, had no choice but to flee her home in Eastern Ghouta to Afrin with her daughter and granddaughter. Sadly, she then was diagnosed with cancer in her left breast and subsequently underwent surgery to remove it 20 days earlier. Mariam is unable to receive the chemotherapy she needs after surgery as she is unable to pay for transportation to Idlib where she receives her treatment.
