Shurouq was born in 1988, and after her husband died, she took on the roles of mother and father to her three children. She sought refuge in Turkey to escape the harsh conditions of war. Shurouq lives with her children in the Turkish city of Marash in an uninhabitable house that lacks basic necessities. She is in a difficult living situation as a result of the loss of a breadwinner and the current high cost of living. Her costs are piling up, and she is losing the ability to pay for the necessities, education, and livelihood of her children.
