Mahmoud and his family of five all live in a rented one-room small home that is devoid of everything but some old mattresses, mats, and worn covers that do not protect the family from the cold of winter. They all sit on a thin carpet suffering the bitterness of life. The family, especially the children, has many needs. Mahmoud has a son who is autistic and suffers from speech delay and comprehension difficulties and he needs treatment. Mahmoud suffers from a knee fracture and a crookedness; his health condition only allows him to do some freelance work, which is almost not enough to provide a living.
