Due to an explosion of a mine from the former regime, Mahasen was severely injured while she was playing in their backyard. The shrapnel hit her chest and face; some of it is still in her eyes, threatening her vision and, more importantly, her life. After she lost her mother, she returned with her family to their destroyed house, searching for safety. But a buried mine turned play into tragedy when her sister lost her life in front of her.
