Story
Abdul Basit suffers from Diamond–Blackfan anemia and requires frequent blood transfusions and ongoing treatment. He also has enlargement of the liver and spleen, which exhausts his small body. He tires quickly, withdraws into himself, feels embarrassed to go to school, and cannot play like other children. His mother suffers from liver and heart disease, and his father works for a meager wage that barely covers the basics of life, while the cost of treatment is high and cannot be delayed. The family is currently staying with relatives, with debts for food and basic nutrition, and debts to cover medical expenses. Our little child…asks only for blood that keeps him alive.
