Before the devastating earthquake that struck southern Turkey, Samer was working as a teacher. Because of the earthquake, he suffered a severe injury in which he completely lost sight in his left eye. Samer is the sole breadwinner for a family of 14 people. His family lives in a tragic living situation, like the case of many Syrian refugee families in Turkey. The high cost of living and the lack of a source of income, all of which constitute a significant burden on the poor father's shoulders and his helpless family. Samer's family does not only have a bad living situation, but also his five brothers suffer from cerebral palsy and paraplegia as a result of consanguineous marriage, and they need someone to care for them. They also need the necessary medical follow-up, especially since they are advanced in age, which increases their need for care.
