Shadi and his family moved to live with his uncle after his father's death. His uncle's family became very large that his work was no longer sufficient to cover for the family’s expenses, so his son was forced to leave school in order to help him. As Shadi grew older, his disease symptoms became more apparent until he was diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome. The illness has many difficult symptoms including incomplete growth, cognitive difficulties, and a sudden feeling of extreme hunger.
