Aunt Fathia lives with her elderly husband, who suffers from liver cirrhosis, her divorced daughter, and two grandchildren who have known nothing in their childhood but the faint light that reaches them through an electric wire extended by a neighbor. They live in two rooms, empty of furniture, without electricity, and with no stable source of income. Aunt Fathia herself suffers from a severe deficiency in blood cells and an enlarged spleen, while her husband requires constant medical care. They have been displaced many times, losing something new with each move, until they have now reached a point below zero.
