Her pain started with cancer, but the disease was not the last of her tragedies, though it might be the harshest. Hind was living in Turkey with her husband and two sons until she received news about her imprisoned son. She handed over her papers and decided to return to Syria to find out about her son's situation. However, upon arrival, she did not receive any good news but rather the hardest news of all: her son had died. The shock caused her to suffer from high blood pressure, and soon after, she experienced pain and weakness in her body. After tests and examinations, three cancerous tumors were found. Hind was greatly affected by her illness, but what made her pain even greater was the earthquake that severed communication with her children and husband in Turkey. After much effort, she managed to contact them and was transferred back to Turkey to start her treatment.
