Lina, a widow and mother of two, lost her husband at the beginning of the war in 2011. Since then, she has had to take on the roles of both mother and father for her children. After being displaced to Turkey in 2016, she lived with her brother and his family in a shared home, splitting expenses and rent to ease the burden of daily life. Since her brother returned to Syria, Lina has faced the full weight of household expenses alone, including the annual rent, which she has struggled to pay in full. She suffers from neck and back hernias that prevent her from working, relying on her children’s sponsorship and limited aid that barely cover basic needs. Today, Lina is confronted with the remaining rent she cannot pay, trying to keep her small home a safe haven for her children. She needs support to help carry this burden and ensure her family has a secure place to live.
