At the last moment, just before Sand was to be discharged from the hospital against medical advice, support covered his costs and returned him to the incubator after he was born with blood group incompatibility that caused severe heart weakness and required daily blood exchange to keep his heart beating. His family had no means to save him, living nine people in a single room, with a father who works day labor when available and a mother who sold her washing machine to buy his medication. By God’s grace and then through this support, Sand survived—reminding us that many other children are still waiting for a helping hand to save a small heart whose beat deserves to continue.
