Kareem, two years old, lives with his family in a destroyed home in very bad conditions. He has a congenital heart defect (pulmonary atresia) and had open-heart surgery as an infant to transplant an artery. However, the artery does not provide enough support to his body as he grows and he has frequent episodes of hypoxemia. He is in urgent need of open-heart surgery which his parents cannot afford.
