Ruqayya and her children live in a room with a wooden ceiling that does not protect from the summer heat or the winter chill, making for an extremely tough living situation. Due to the direct bombardment of their city, her daughter's eardrums were perforated. Ruqayya lost her child in a traffic accident shortly after the family had settled down, and her husband suffered a stroke and died as a result of it.
