Despite a war injury to his shoulder and a slipped disc that damaged his legs, Mohammed refused to be defeated or sit idly by, unable to provide for his children. He took on work cleaning building entrances and carrying light loads within his physical limits, while his children collected plastic to help pay the rent for their damp and mold-ridden two-room home. His daughter’s body swelled with illness, and the hospital only admitted her after three days, once he managed to borrow the money to pay. He was desperate, fighting with all he had, but she passed away in the hospital. Now, the lender is pressing him for the debt.
