In an old house that lacks the most basic necessities of life, Amoun lives with her son, his wife, and their six children. The entire family shares three cramped rooms, struggling with harsh living conditions due to the lack of a sufficient source of income to meet their needs. Cataracts have begun to cloud Amoun’s eyes, leaving the vision in her left eye almost non-existent. As the condition of her right eye deteriorates, Amoun lives in constant fear of being completely consumed by darkness. An operation could give Amoun a chance to regain some of her sight, but the family’s financial circumstances do not allow for the cost of treatment.
