After a long journey of displacement that began with the loss of their son, a martyr of war, Fouad, his wife, and their remaining son finally returned to their old home — hoping for a new beginning. But illness was waiting for them instead. Fouad suffers from chronic heart disease and high blood pressure and urgently needs a cardiac catheterization. He has also undergone a complete amputation of his left leg and the toes of his right foot, making movement extremely difficult, especially in their home’s bathroom, which is not equipped for his condition. The family lives on a very limited income that barely covers medication, in a small, poorly lit home with almost no furniture. Yet, with the little strength and patience they have left, they keep holding on to life.
